Hi bird friends; it’s been awhile since I’ve posted. Summer is usually pretty busy for me and this summer is no exception. We have a lot of projects around the house that needed to get done this summer and our list is slowly dwindling…..finally! I just thought I’d pop on and give you an update on a couple of things we’ve been working on and show off a few pictures of our projects. I hope you’ll enjoy the pictures.
First, I painted our decks and added new mulch to my flowerbeds. This was a project that needed to be done last summer but my husband decided to run for political office so my summer was spent helping him campaign; I’m so happy that we don’t have to do that again this summer. I couldn’t be more happy with how our deck turned out; it truly is an extension of our living area. Two summers ago, we built the pergola boxes and this spring, we ran drip irrigation to the boxes so my pots would get watered. The drip irrigation was an incredibly easy project to do and it was quite inexpensive as well.
I have some exciting news, the bird nerd got a pet bird! Meet Harry; Harry is a gold-capped Conure. He’s just over a year old and has stolen our hearts. He’s a funny guy and my husband even gave him a full name, Harold James Williams.
Just a few more pictures of what we’ve been doing. This is the first year in many years that we have had a successful garden. It helps when you have time to keep it neat and tidy. I’ve also have a pair of House Wrens that have claimed one of my Bluebird houses as their own. I finally got a picture of, who I believe is mom, near the box. I’ve also attached a picture of one of my hummingbirds.
I promise not to be gone as long as I have been this last time! Until next time, enjoy the beautiful summer weather!
