I don’t keep track of my MailChimp account very well and I was happily surprised when Mr. Bird Nerd pointed out to me that I have 60 subscribers to my blog! Thank you from the bottom of my heart! I know that sometimes I’m a little absent but life tends to get in the way of all of the fun things I like to do.
My feeders have been slow lately and I suspect that it’s because they are raising their young. I did happen to see some sparrow fledging’s around the other day but I haven’t seen any others. After three weeks of not seeing any Orioles, I did spy one in my Serviceberry tree last week; since then, nothing!
I did have a visit from a male and female Eastern Bluebird earlier this week. I struggle photographing Bluebirds as I don’t find they sit still very long so I was happy when I was able to capture a few shots.
I had mentioned that I signed up for the Basic Wildlife Rehabilitation Class the first weekend in June. I attended the class and I’m sure I passed but it’ll take 4-6 weeks to find out the test results. So for now, I’m just patiently waiting.
I’d like to remind you with the extreme heat we’ve experienced recently, it is important to provide fresh water for our feathered friends. Last week when it was real hot I was changing my birdbath water twice a day and as you can see below, the birds appreciated it. I don’t have a traditional birdbath instead I purchased a large terracotta pot and saucer; it’s cute, low to the ground and it serves its purpose.
