The feeders are a hoppin’!

Spring migration is in full swing!  Last Thursday the Rose-breasted Grosbeak appeared for the first time this spring and Friday both, the Baltimore Orioles and Ruby-throat Hummingbirds, arrived.  I love looking at all of the colorful birds stopping in for snacks.

I have quite a few White-crowned Sparrows that have shown up over the last couple of weeks.  ‘They won’t stick around for long so you must enjoy them while they are here.

 I was elated to see a Orchard Oriole Wednesday evening. In mid-Michigan, we are on the northern edge of their range. You can see by the pictures below that the Orchard is more of a rusty orange rather than the bright orange of the Baltimore. Orchards also have more black on their neck and breast area; it’s referred to as a bib.
